Question: How does the Scottish family history research service work?
Answer: To get started with your Scottish family history research we will need whatever information you have on the person or family you want to research – name, date of birth, marriage or death and, if possible, a place. Any other information you have on your Scots family would also be helpful. We should then be able to find your Scottish ancestor somewhere in the statutory documents.
Question: How many generations can be traced? Question: Can you still carry out a Scottish family history search if I don’t have any exact information about my Scottish ancestors? |

Question: Can you help me if I have a request that does not fit in with any of your listed packages and how much will it cost?
Answer: Yes. Broadly, we will charge £20 per hour plus the price of obtaining copies of certificates if you require them. Alternatively, you can set us a maximum financial limit, and we will work to that limit.
Question: What do I get for my money?
Answer: We will search the Scottish family history records on your behalf and send you the results in a package containing ancestor trees, descendant trees and a full report containing transcripts of all of the records we have consulted.

Question: What is the timescale for the research?
Answer: It normally takes 4 to 6 weeks for a Scottish family history to be researched.
Question: Do you offer Scottish family history gift vouchers?
Answer: Yes. We offer Scottish Family History Gift Vouchers in multiples of £50.
Question: How do I pay?
Answer: The easiest way to pay is by credit card using PayPal. However, if you prefer you can pay by sterling cheque or by foreign currency cheque, but for the latter please add £6 to cover bank charges. Cheques should be made payable to Scots Roots Research and sent to the address shown on the Contact Scots Roots Research page.
